Man, people lose their freaking minds for cherry blossoms, don’t they! And as a photographer, I’ll be damned if I’m not going to lose my mind too!
I joke that cherry blossoms are just as finicky as waiting for an avocado to be perfectly ripe. Wait…. wait… Ope, we have this ten second window! Aaaaaaaaand gone….. And it’s so true! I’m writing this post less than a week after we wrapped up our cherry blossom shoots, and the trees we used look very sad.
But enough sad, let’s look at happy and pretty pictures!
These two lovely ladies, Madison and Emma are sisters (in case you couldn’t tell). This session was part of a charity fundraiser for Rabbitats Rescue Society.
The mission of Rabbitats is to rescue feral & abandoned rabbits and provide them with shelter, food & veterinary care. And OMG, they’re soooooo cute!!
I’ve collaborated with both Madison and Emma on these fundraisers before. This year, we photographed at Deer Lake in Burnaby. In prior years, we’ve shot at Iona Beach in Richmond, Blackie Spit in South Surrey, and the Burnaby campus of SFU. This year was a bit more of a pain because of Covid, but hey, we make it work! Usually, we shoot in kind of a free for all – multiple photographers, models, etc. This year, it’s one photographer with Emma, and one photographer with Madison, all according to time slots. As much as I love the organized chaos of group shoots, it was definitely nice to have some one-on-one time with the models, where we could both just be creative and do our own thing!
I photographed Madison first – here are some of my favorite images!
And now, her sister Emma for golden hour!
And just because, a selfie for the road!
