Ahhhhhh, two full weeks in Mexico over the Christmas holidays! And not just any kind of Mexico vacation, mind you. Miles away from the posh all-inclusive resorts, we were actually going to be spending our time in a little coastal community called Barra de Navidad, in the state of Jalisco. For reference, it’s about a four hour drive south of Puerto Vallarta, and a one hour drive north of Manzanillo.
Why Barra de Navidad, you ask? My mother in law and her husband recently bought a place down there, and they invited me, my wife, and our friend Shawn to come spend a couple weeks living in very, very authentic Mexico. How the hell are we gonna say no to that?!
Shittily for us (is that a word? Yes, right?) we could only get a flight into Puerto Vallarta. So between a five hour flight and then a four hour drive, the travel days were going to be LONG!
The flight into PV was smooth enough. We had a ride waiting for us as well. There’s a guy from Manzanillo who is self employed by basically running errands for people between Manzanillo and PV. We were Caesar’s errand for the day!
Most of our drive to Barra de Navidad was dark, so we didn’t really get to see much of the landscape. But when we pulled up to the house, there was steak on the bar-b-que, and cold beer ready to go for us.
It was late by this point, so we were all asleep rather quickly, and excited for the next two weeks!
