Mt. St. Helens – Bear Meadow

Bear Meadow sure looks a lot different today than way back on May 18, 1980, when photographer Gary Rosenquist shot his famous sequence of the lateral blast of Mt. St. Helens.

Today, the forest landscape has largely regenerated, but it’s crazy to think about what must have been going through Gary’s head that morning. Glad I wasn’t caught in that!
