This is 100% the day I was most excited for on the entire trip!
Lassen Peak is the southernmost volcano in the Cascade Range, rising to 10,457 feet above sea level, and last erupted in 1917. We decide to attempt this one for the simple fact that it’s not a technical climb at all. The trail up is definitely steep, but the numerous switchbacks make it much easier. There’s a little snowfield at the top to cross, and then a scramble to get to the summit. We didn’t think it was anything we couldn’t handle.
I’m going to let the photos do the talking for our first successful summit!
Back at the Railroad Park Resort, you know we were hungry AF after that adventure. We went to the resort’s restaurant for dinner because we were DONE with driving for the day. I may or may not have taken a liking to our waitress Melissa, but perhaps I didn’t tip enough for a proper date. Or I looked gross after climbing a damn volcano.
We had some more adventures lined up on the way home to get ready for, so it was off to bed! One potentially minor problem though – the clouds were starting to roll in.
