You’ve probably read enough blogs to know WHY you should get engagement photos! It’s good practice for your actual wedding day, you can use the photos for your save the date cards, you can get some killer artwork to compliment your wedding day photos, and so many other reasons! Here are five tips to help give you the BEST possible experience for your engagement session:
1) Location matters!
Come up with a cool spot and vibe that means something to you both. Are you into alpine hikes with crazy mountain vistas? Well let’s hit the trails and gain some altitude! Have a favourite destination that you love travelling to, for example, Las Vegas? Oregon? Let’s go!! No idea is too crazy, so we’ll all put the effort in, and let’s make it as PERSONAL as possible! And you know what the other bonus of that is? You’re going to get photos that no one else is going to have!

2) How about an activity?
Building off of WHERE do you like to go, WHAT do you like to do? Hiking? Biking? Trail running? Music? Let’s build a shoot around that!
Widgeon Falls in Coquitlam – It was quite the adventure to get out here, canoeing and hiking!
3) Hair and makeup
You want to look your best, so take the time to have your hair and makeup professionally done (unless you’re a rock star on your own, that is!) Ideally, you’ll use the same artist that’s going to be there on your wedding day. Gotta make sure you’re in love with what you’re going to see, right?

4) Make a day of it
Related to #3, as long as you’re all perfectly done up and looking 10/10, don’t stop after the engagement session is done. How about a date night with your fiancé! Show each other off!
After a hike to do engagement photos at Lindeman Lake in Chilliwack, I heard rumours about a pizza and beer date afterwards!
5) Relax!
The engagement shoot is meant to be a fun experience, although yes, you may have some awkward jitters at first. Totally normal, and we’ll laugh them off! No need to stress over anything, promise. 🤗
Laughing IS the easiest way to loosen up for the camera. Tickling helps, ya know!
Ok, one final tip, and probably the most important one.
6) HAVE FUN!! Laugh, enjoy the experience, and create an unforgettable memory for the two of you. CELEBRATE what life is going to bring!
We ALWAYS have fun on our engagement shoots! Sometimes they’re chill, sometimes they’re day-long adventures. We’ll collaborate to give you the most memorable photo experience EVER. And bonus, the session is complimentary when you book your wedding with us!
