They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, right? Well good thing, because it was a typical Vancouver DOWNPOUR for Brittany and Luis’ wedding on the water in Port Moody.
And you know what, it is just one example of rolling with the punches on your wedding day! As much as we’d like to, we really can’t control everything on the big day, and the weather is one of those things we can NOT control. So like always, we make the most of what we are given! Rain on the water is rather romantic, right?
Apparently, rain is good luck for a few reasons. Some say it symbolizes fertility and cleansing. Others say it will make sure your marriage LASTS. Why? Because when a knot is wet, it’s virtually impossible to untie. So when a couple ties the knot, the rain makes it just as hard to unravel. Well I’m not about to argue that logic!
Plus we had a tent. So really, it was all good!
This was my first Covid-era wedding of 2020. Naturally that means it was a small, intimate wedding. Immediate family, some super close friends, and a VERY friendly dog!
Brittany and Luis got married at a little waterfront bed & breakfast in Port Moody called At The Beach Retreat, and this place was CUTE!! Their suite had a sauna and a hot tub, and the grounds were gorgeous. Plus it was just steps from the water!
First off, I gotta show you a yummy little spread of food!
And a couple little details of course!
Onto the ceremony! The sky had completely opened up by this point and it was POURING. Thankfully we had a tent!
Nova worked hard during the ceremony too. He was a VERY good boy!
Off to do the formal portraits – and those are my absolute favorite part of the day. That’s where, as photographers, we can get SUPER creative. It was still downpouring, but thankfully Brittany and Luis didn’t mind getting wet.
Every wedding we photograph, we always shoot that ONE epic shot that is designed to be an art piece in the couple’s home. You saw this at the top of the post, but here it is again – because it’s AWESOME!
CAKE TIME! (Mmmm…. cake…..)
And a few more photos of Brittany, just because she looks GORGEOUS.
Luis is a photographer too, FYI! I can’t make fun of him for bringing his camera to his own wedding because… I did the exact same thing! He’s a Canon guy too, so RESPECT. 🙂
Congratulations, Brittany and Luis! And THANK YOU for having me out to photography my first post-Covid wedding of 2020!
