Talent: Sean and Krystal (aka The Sylums)
Venue: McMenamins Crystal Ballroom
When there’s a wedding involving pro wrestlers, you just KNOW something crazy is going to go down, right? I mean, don’t you remember what happened at the reception when Macho Man Randy Savage married Miss Elizabeth back in the day?
Would either the bride or the groom end up being powerbombed through the wedding cake table? So much potential for shenanigans!
Seriously though, I was stoked on going to this wedding for a LONG time. Y’all know that Oregon is one of my most favorite places on the planet, right?
Seriously though, check out this venue!
Definitely some fun wedding details kicking around. Peacocks rule.
Groom prep! I always chuckle at how different bridal prep is from groom prep. The guys, 99% of the time, are kicking back in their sweatpants, watching sports, and drinking beer. The ladies on the other hand……
The ladies on the other hand, 99% of the time, have a much more chaotic time! The stresses about timelines, hair, makeup, all the extra bodies…. But honestly, these girls were SUPER chill!
Now, for one of my absolute favorite parts of a modern wedding – the first look!
Because of the EMOTION involved! The bride and groom get to see each other for the first time in a very private moment, and they get to spend it with each other, instead of in front of a mass of people. I love watching the anticipation on the bride’s face. I love watching the nervous energy of the groom – really, how many times in his life has he been THIS excited? And then the couple simple get to enjoy each other’s company for a few minutes, and forget about how hectic the day has been, and probably will be. A few moments to relax. The moments are raw. They are honest. There’s no pressure whatsoever.
Alright, and now that everyone’s had the chance to see each other, we can go out into downtown Portland and do the formal portraits. From a photography perspective, this is definitely my favorite part of the day. We get to be super creative, and capture that epic, dramatic imagery that we are known for.
Sigh. If only we had time to do something at Voodoo Donuts!
Now time for the ceremony! The Sylum Wedding had EASILY the biggest bridal party I have ever seen, so I was definitely expecting a production!
And now, wrestlers are gonna do what wrestlers are gonna do!
Reception time = time to get BLITZED! ( And eat a lot of tacos. THERE WAS A TACO BAR!! <3 )
At long last, we all hit our curfew. But not before one last post-whiskey photo for the road! (End of the night photos are always good for a chuckle!)
And so ends the #SylumWedding at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom!
