(Part 4/9): Grand Prismatic
Up early for an awesome breakfast at the hotel. 4 eggs, bacon, and three slices of huckleberry French toast. Huckleberry EVERYTHING!!!
We started pretty much every day off with a “game drive”, aka searching for wildlife photography opportunities. Found a playful herd of elk!
Afterwards, we drove to Grand Prismatic, and walked the boardwalk. Pretty challenging to see the world’s largest hot spring from this vantage point, but there were some fantastic opportunities to create some abstract photographs.
Hike time! We walked to the Grand Prismatic viewpoint, which gave us a MUCH better vista. And holy crap, the colors were UNREAL.
We kept on walking after that to our lunch point, which was the 220 foot high Fairy Falls. Nice relaxing hike!
After meandering our way back to West Yellowstone, it was time for one of my favorite times of any day. Dinner time! We hit The Lounge at Madison Crossing, and DAMN did I ever grub hard. Huckleberry Elk Tenderloin medallions. See? Huckleberry EVERYTHING!
With dinner being done, we had our sunset shoot to do. We drove back to the Grand Prismatic area, and found a great spot along the side of the road to photograph the sun setting over a giant geyser basin and the Firehole River.
Back to the hotel, because the next day, we’d be back on the road toward the Grand Tetons.
