(Part 5/9) Yellowstone Adventure: Onto Grand Teton!
Today was set to be a bucket list day, because I had ALWAYS wanted to go to Grand Teton National Park! All those mountain images just made me drool.
But first, a morning game drive. Bison everywhere!
And then we checked out the Ink Pots.
From there, we returned to West Yellowstone to check out the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. This place is beyond cool. (And NOT a zoo!) In order to explain this place a bit better, I’m going to rip from a portion of their website:
“Grizzly bears that live at the Center are animals that were unable to survive in the wild for different reasons. Many were orphaned when their mothers became used to obtaining food from human areas. Others had been labeled “nuisance bears” because they were becoming dangerously comfortable around humans.
These animals have a second chance at the Center. Their stories help share an important lesson. From them we learn how humans can help make sure that bears in the wild stay wild forever.”
I highly recommend a visit here if you’re ever in Yellowstone. Check them out at https://www.grizzlydiscoveryctr.org/
Obviously, I spent a lot of time observing the grizzlies. They let them out two at a time, and in order to keep the bears’ minds engaged, they go foraging for food. (Staff hide food before each set of bears comes out) And since it’s fall, we gotta have some pumpkin to see how basic these bears can get.
They also have wolves (hence the name), birds of prey, and several other species. Everyone here cannot survive in the wild for whatever reason.
Onward to Jackson Wyoming!
Quick stop for dinner at the Roadhouse Pub & Eatery, and a sunset shoot over the Tetons!
