Yosemite National Park (3/7)

Road Trip Day 3

Friday Oct. 11, 2019

I have no recollection what time we woke up, but somehow, I was a lot more refreshed than I expected to be.  Today was going to be fun, just exploring the Yosemite Valley!

We started right at our hotel, found a trail, and just kept walking.  Crossed the Merced River a couple times, and then the trail paralleled Tenaya Creek, until we finally reached a signed trail junction.  Turned out we were almost at Mirror Lake, so we figured we’d keep on going.  Damn thing turned out to be dry, but we had some cool views of Half Dome!

The rest of the afternoon, we simply drove around the valley, and stopped wherever looked interesting.  So obviously, a lot of stops!  El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, Half Dome, various meadows, all the good stuff.

We were en route to Jamestown that night, but we weren’t in any hurry.  We decided to take the LONG way around, through Tioga Pass, with a stop at Olmsted Point.  And with that, we bid farewell to Yosemite National Park.

Then it was out the NE corner of the park, then a long but scenic drive to Jamestown!  (Which had no power…. Ugh) BUT at least we got to see a sweet sunset as we drove through Sonora!
