Artist Point
While Tunnel View is the more famous spot, Artist Point offers a quieter, more intimate experience. You won't see as much of Half Dome, but you'll get a better view of Clouds Rest and Bridalveil Meadow. Plus, you won't have to elbow your way through crowds to get the perfect shot!
The Hike Itself
The hike to Artist Point is a short but sweet 2-mile round trip. It starts at the Tunnel View parking area and follows the Pohono Trail for a bit before turning onto the old stagecoach road. The first half of the hike is a bit steep, but it's worth it for the incredible views at the end. Basically, you’re just going to walk uphill to the top, then hang a left on the old road, and walk until the views of Yosemite Valley open up Just watch out for fallen trees and enjoy the solitude!
Photography Opportunities
Artist Point is a hidden gem for photographers. Unlike the crowded Tunnel View, you'll find fewer people and more peace and quiet here1. The view is similar to Tunnel View but offers a slightly different perspective, with more of Clouds Rest, Bridalveil Meadow, and Royal Arches in sight. It's like Tunnel View's cooler, less crowded cousin!
